Dining Diva's "Spotlight On San Diego"

This week's "Spotlight On San Diego" is focused on Miguel's Cocina.

Located on beautiful Shelter Island.

If you're at all like everyone else, these past few months have been anything but fun. We've all been itching to get back to normal and a huge part of our normal is our weekend brunch excursions. The minute we heard they were once again opening the local restaurants we knew Miguel's would once again be at the top of our "Must Visit" list.
Looking to have a great time, along with enjoying some GREAT Mexican cuisine? Then Miguel's Cocina is a great choice! During the week or on weekends, it's always an excellent time. They've been a San Diego icon for as long as we've lived here and that's saying something.
Being that my motto is Sunday- Fun-day, it's my favorite day to enjoy a Champagne Brunch. And when I think Sunday Brunch, Miguel's is at the top of the list. Upon arrival we were seated out on the patio (no waiting!!!). Both brunch and lunch menus are offered, however if you order brunch you can get unlimited champagne for an additional $8.00 (this is THE best deal in town for champers).
From the menu we went with the Surf & Turf Omelette and substituted the potato hash for rice and beans. The omelette was done to perfection - creamy, warm and prepared with a very generous amount of shrimp and carne asada. The chipotle sauce (on top of our omelette) was mild in taste but complemented the eggs just perfectly. The rice and beans are authentic, homemade and delicious.
Besides our omelette, they offer all types of tasty brunch items including a Macadamia Nut Crusted French Toast, Chorizo con Huevos and freshly homemade Pozole Rojo. I've experienced them all and I'm undecided as to which one is my favorite. All EXTRA delicious.
Needless the say the service was excellent. Claudia, the Manager, is always working to ensure that every single need you have is taken care of immediately. Our Server on Sunday was Sammy and he's exceptional, never failing to greet us with a smile.
And on a side note, no need to worry - they've gone the distance to protect every customer & employee during these uncertain times, while at the same time doing everything possible to guarantee an awesome experience.
I want to say a big Thank You to Miguel's. You've made our "Sunday-Fun-Day's" the best in town.
